Long time wholesale coffee client is a legacy in Bremerton

For over 10 years, Martin Henry Coffee Roasters has been providing wholesale coffee to Bay Street Coffee Company in Bremerton, WA. This relationship is more than supplying coffee to an espresso stand. And Bay Street feels the same way. Coffee is the conduit of the relationship. The people, the connections, that is what matters.

As Thanksgiving arrives this year, we focus on the true meaning of gratitude and giving thanks. And we at Martin Henry Coffee are especially thankful to be part of Lin and Jim Melton’s legacy, started back in 1996.

The Bay Street Coffee Company Mission

“Our Mission is to make the world a better place.  We are committed to providing the best products and service possible. We will listen to our customers. We will be creative, and we will set the standard by which others are judged.”

If the Bay Street mission statement doesn’t give you an idea of the legacy Lin and Jim built, then this recent review will.

You read that right, the same people. This October marked 26 years in business. And it also marked barista Renee’s 25th year anniversary at Bay Street.

In a recent facebook post highlighting Renee’s 25 years, customer Minerva Merchalle said,  “Renee, my husband and I would like to thank you for your incredible customer service, how kind and considerate you are about the things that are going on with your customers, and your seemingly unshakable chipper manner. Our days that started the best are the ones that we come see you guys. We so very much enjoy the coffee that you make. We hope you have a blessed and relaxing anniversary. We love you.”

After 23 years, Barista Isaak left for a different calling, but he continues to be a Baristud frequently, and is a great support.  “Bay Street is my first love.”

The Baristas have been voted Best of Bremerton’s Best Barista several times, and Bay Street itself has been voted Best of Bremerton’s Best Local Coffee.

Jim and Lin made Bay Street Coffee Company a “Family.”

In 2009, Lin passed away after losing a battle with cancer. Seven years later, Jim was ready to sell Bay Street but was afraid his employees (Family) could lose their jobs. He sold Bay Street to  his  brother, Ray, and  his  wife, Kim, on January 1, 2016. They promised Jim that the employees would stay, and nothing would change.  Showing again, how much family and community matter.

Hope, Mandy and Barbara, who worked and then moved on during Jim and Lin’s ownership, have returned. Jim and Lin’s mission, and legacy, continue to unfold.
